Sketch Prompts Nov 2012

Here are some rough sketches I did from prompts sent to me via Tumblr, to the draw children of pairs of various pre-existing fictional characters.

I had a lot of fun with these, as I was given a lot of different mixes to try out (you might notice I snuck a familiar face or two into the mix!)
Each character featured here is the result of a different prompt (except the blue-haired characters, who are siblings)

Artist Appreciation Paintings: Yoshitaka Amano

I am a big fan of the artist Yoshitaka Amano, so I decided to try doing some paintings in a style inspired by his own. These are of characters from the Final Fantasy series, for which Amano is famous, but I've chosen to draw characters that don't usually appear in his artwork.

Here are my first two paintings in this style, of villainous ladies:

Jenova

The Witch Leenan from online comic Warrior U

Emberella from Terry Pratchett's Discworld

Teachers Mr. Green and Miss Keane from The Powerpuff Girls

Tekken: Anna Williams

I've been a fan of the Tekken series of games since I was a kid, so I was feeling nostalgic and decided to paint one of my favourite characters since childhood, Anna Williams.

Tekken has a cosmopolitan cast from all over the globe, including the Irish Williams sisters, Nina and Anna. I personally prefer playing as (and drawing) Anna because she's a bit less dour and serious than Nina, and wears some fabulously outrageous outfits. What's great about Anna is that she doesn't fall into any common Irish stereotypes, and holds her own against some of the world's greatest martial artists while wearing six-inch heels. A true inspiration!
