Early background test

Here is a render of a test background, that I've been working on for a while for my film:

I like using Maya to plot out a background, as it feels like I'm building something in three dimensions. It helps me to get a better feel of the world I'm building.
This is just a rough version blocking in the main architecture - for the city scenes, I decided to go for a Art Deco design, as it works really well in CG.

I overlayed a few textures over it, to get the feel I want for the finished film ~ a sepia-toned city.

Fanart of Bygone Eras

Just some fanart I've done recently to stretch my digital painting muscles.
They feature two musical, animated girls from very different eras:

Outrageous 80's icon Jem. Her signature colour was pink, if you hadn't guessed.

Disney's Snow White, with elements of Vincent Valentine's costume {of Final Fantasy VII fame} - because as characters, they're quite alike... if you squint a little.

Portrait for Rachael

This is a portrait I did for my friend Rachael's 21st birthday:
Which is actually today, July 4th!

I sketched it roughly in pencil using photographs as reference, then scanned it, and painted digitally on Photoshop.

In the picture, Rachael's wearing her faux fur coat; it became a favourite of hers during the the harsh winter of 2010!
